Unusual selfie saved one woman’s life:  A Toronto-area woman was having her third stroke in three days. Stacey Yepes recorded a selfie video of her symptoms after pulling over while driving. The next day, the video would help doctors at Toronto Western Hospital correctly diagnose Stacey’s symptoms as “mini-strokes,” due to plaque buildup in her arteries. BTW: Two days before the recording, doctors at a local emergency room in Toronto dismissed her face numbness and slurred speech as stress-related.  http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/18/health/stroke-selfie/index.html?hpt=hp_inthenews

US Patent Office cancels Redskins’ Trademark? The US Patent and Trademark Office has canceled the NFL team’s trademarks on the basis that it is “disparaging to Native Americans.”  The ruling does not force the NFL or the Redskins’ owner (Daniel Snyder) to change the name, but trademarks, registered between 1967 and 1990, will no longer be protected under federal law if the NFL and the Redskins lose an appeal to the U.S. District Court. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11102096/us-patent-office-cancels-washington-redskins-trademark

“(I) still have my aches and pains but thank God I’m still alive.” That was the response that Lela Burden uttered just before receiving her High School diploma earlier this week.  Oh, Miss Burden turned 111 back in May.  Miss Burton recalls that schools in her area were temporarily shut down back in 1918 due to a flu pandemic, by that time the teenage Burden was working two jobs and never went back to finish her education.  http://myfox8.com/2014/06/18/va-woman-graduates-from-high-school-at-111-years-old/
