According to the NC-DOT, between 2008 and 2012, 44% of Bike crashes in the Piedmont were fatal. Guilford County ranked third for counties with the highest number of bicycle-car crashes… Forsyth County ranked Ninth.
These are Scary Numbers that have caused bike shop owners like Dale Brown to do more than just Sell bikes, but Educate Cyclists on Safety… like Wearing a Cycling Helmet Every time you get on a Bike, and Riding to the Right Side of the road as Closely as you can… wear Bright Clothes, and if possible, ride in Groups.
Helping Children in the Healing Process is the Goal of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s
Child Life Department, to Make Sure that their Young Patients Still get to be Kids!
“Kids need more than medicine to get well and that’s what we provide,” said Manager of Child Life Cindy Mahan. The Department coordinates Various Activities for Young Patients, including
Pet Therapy – Holiday Celebrations – Birthday Parties – and, Other Events. The Department is also in charge of managing the Teen Game Room and Playrooms.
Child Life Specialists also Help Prepare the Children and their Families for Upcoming Medical Procedures with Dolls, or allowing the Child to use Lesser Versions of Medical Equipment to see
What it’s like, so they know what they’re going to experience, so as to make it not as “Threatening.”
According to Mahan, Research shows that Children who engage in Therapeutic Play – and, Understand their Medical Procedures are Less Anxious, and Even feel Less Pain!

a Handful of people her age at her Church. But instead of Switching Churches, she decided to
Do Something ABOUT IT in a BIG Way. Henderson assumed a Huge Undertaking in Hopes of recruiting more Young People to her Church.
She says, “The Older People can meet the Younger People – like me – and, can see that we’re Really not all that different.” – So, She Successfully organized a “Stop Hunger Now” fundraiser for the Church, in which the Church will package up 10,000 Meals for Hungry Families around the World.
