I hope that everyone has begun 2012 with a heart of expectancy. A new year of our life to be written. What will the end of 2012 say about the way we lived? What did 2011 say about the way we lived it out. Have we made the most of our days. Have we used the gifts and talents that God has given us to bring Him glory and honor? Have we used them to help each other? Have we gotten out of our comfortable circles and made a difference in someone’s life that we didn’t know? With every passing day, every passing year, I realize that I have lived more of my life than I have left to live. What a sobering thought. None of us know how many more days we have left but after you reach a certain age, you just know that more days lie behind you than ahead of you. Have we made an impact on this world that we live in. It only takes one to make a difference. Like the song I used to sing in church as a teenager…it only takes a spark to get a fire going…..it only takes one, you, me to make a difference. The Lord has given each of us a path on which to walk to accomplish much for Him? Are we allowing Him to use us?
I know for me, being used some days seem to be easier than others. I hope you will join with me in committing to the Lord anew to be used by Him in 2012 like never before. Let’s make a difference in 2012 for His glory.
One very small way we can make a difference in the next few days is to make valentine cards for our homebound senior adults, given out through Meals on Wheels. WBFJ has been involved with Sweetheart Surprise for some years now. What a difference it has made in the lives of senior adults. A simple valentine will warm a heart and bring a smile to the face of those individuals. It doesn’t take much effort on our part, but it can make a lasting difference for them. We had one of our recipients send back a valentine thanking everyone involved in Sweetheart Surprise for the sweet valentine cards she received. Another recipient, who has gone home to be with the Lord, daughter told the folks at Meals on Wheels, how much it meant to her mother and to her, that she received valentine’s through Meals on Wheels. Her mother kept her valentine’s out all year round, so very proud of her gift of love. Please join me, join WBFJ in the Sweetheart Surprise by making valentine cards to give to these wonderful senior adults, who have given so much to others in their lifetime. Join us, as we share the love of the Lord and appreciation to them for their lives, well lived. You may drop off your valentine cards beginning Jan. 21st though February 7th, at area Lowes Foods. You can get a list of those stores @ www.wbfj.fm.
On behalf of all the senior adults who will be blessed by receiving your valentine cards, Thank You!!!!!!
Even to your old age and gray hairs I am He, I am He who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you. Is. 46:4(NIV)
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matt 25:40 (NIV)
May our Lord bless you as you allow Him to use you in 2012.
