National Hurricane Center continues to track multiple storms in the Atlantic. Tropical Depression 8 is now moving away from the North Carolina coast, but another tropical system will likely have a much bigger impact on the Carolina coast by the end of this week.

-Tropical Depression #9, currently in the Gulf of Mexico, is expected to become a tropical storm and will likely make landfall in northern Florida by late Thursday.  *That storm will then track across southern Georgia and up the Carolina coast Friday through early Saturday morning.

Update: Down to one healthcare provider in North Carolina? According to a report by Kaiser Family Foundation, 80% of projected enrollees in the ACA Healthcare Exchange will have only Blue Cross/ Blue Shield as a choice for health coverage this Fall.   Both Aetna and United Healthcare recently announced they are pulling out of North Carolina for the 2017 exchange. BTW: Back in May, BC/BS of NC filed for an 18.8% rate increase with the North Carolina Department of Insurance, with the final rate increase decision due out late summer.*Health insurance premiums are determined by the cost of health care services and how often they are used.  http://goo.gl/JooPdz

Drone fever…  Federal aviation officials estimate there will be 600,000 commercial drone aircraft operating in the U.S. within the year as the result of new safety rules allowed earlier this week.  The head of the FAA suggesting that the new rules governing the operation of small commercial drones are designed to protect safety without stifling innovation.  http://goo.gl/hP9PLT

 

More costly to dump some items at Davidson County land fields?  Items including mattresses, old paint and chemicals as well as electronics will cost you $8 to leave at the landfill.  The price increase went into effect July 1.      http://goo.gl/bnGgoS

  

UPDATED REMINDER:  ALL students who are ‘entering public school’ for the FIRST time  (no matter what age)  are required to have a ‘health assessment form’ completed by their physician and returned to their school. You now have less than 30 days to get that ‘health assessment form’ to your child’s school.
