Concealed carry permits reached an all-time high last year in Guilford County.  At the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, requests for concealed carry permits have been higher the last two years.  In 2015, Guilford County issued about 3,600 CCW permits. That number jumped to nearly 6,000 in 2016.

A North Carolina Presbyterian pastor has been held in a Turkish prison for almost four months now.

Pastor Andrew Brunson is being accused of “membership in an armed terrorist organization.” His family says he’s being persecuted for his Christian belief.

Pastor Brunson and his family, originally from Black Mountain, has dedicated 23 years to Christian missionary work in Turkey — building churches and spreading the gospel — until he applied for residency and was arrested four months ago.

*His daughter Jacqueline, a student at UNC Chapel Hill, has put her wedding on ‘hold’ because she wants her father to attend.

*Both North Carolina senators, Richard Burr and Thom Tillis, are aware of the situation and are working to get some answers.
