In Psalm 17:8, David Prays… “Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings…”
And in Psalm 91:4, he says… “He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”
I never knew my Grandmother to be anything other than what She used to call “Portly”… To Me, She was the “Perfect Picture” OF a Grandmother! She used to laugh about the fact that if her Brother was around when she was hanging one of her Dresses on the clothesline, he was say – “Sis! Are you washing your Tent again?”
“Granny” – as I always called her – wore an Apron – a Kitchen Apron – Every Day for the Better Part of the Day. As a Small Child, I would often Run to her, and “Hide” Behind her Apron. The silly part of this was the fact that her Apron had No Protective Measures Whatsoever! It was nothing more than a Thin Cloth! BUT… As long as I was “Under” her Apron… I FELT SAFE! David refers – in both of these Psalms – to “Hiding” or being “Under” GODS WINGS.
Can You Imagine what we would see IF we could Actually SEE GOD, as we “Hide” under HIM? Granny’s Apron was “Protective” to Me, because of Who was Wearing the Apron… Granny… NOT her Apron… Kept Me “Safe.” David refers to this “Hiding” in GOD taking place in “the Shadow of HIS WINGS”… BUT… It is NOT the “Shadow” which has Protective Measures… Rather, it is ALMIGHTY GOD, and those Wonderful WINGS!
An old song says… “GOD Rides On The Water… HE Rides On The Flood… And, There Ain’t No Power From Hell… That’s Gonna Stop GODS WINGS OF LOVE!”
