Senior Adults Day at the Dixie Classic Fair

Gates open at 9am for SENIORS (65 & up)

 

If you have a student who will be attending college in next fall (fall of 2018), you can start applying for financial aid. This is the second year that students have been able to start on their FAFSA applications early.

On Oct. 28, FAFSA Day will be held at campuses throughout North Carolina.

A few campuses will be offering FAFSA Day on an alternate date:

NC Wesleyan College on Oct. 21and Winston-Salem State University on Nov. 4.

In addition, the State Employees’ Credit Union will offer FAFSA completion assistance in November. Call local branches to schedule an appointment.

Still no motive for the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday.

*American Flags have been ordered to be flown at half-staff in respect to those affected by the mass shooting.  President Trump will visit Las Vegas on Wednesday.

 

Winston-Salem Police Chief Catrina Thompson speaking with law enforcement in Las Vegas (Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lambardo) on Monday expressing condolences –  saying that they and Vegas are all in “our thoughts and prayers…”

Rocker Tom Petty has died away after suffering cardiac arrest on Monday.

Tom Petty had just concluded his 40th anniversary tour with The Hearbreakers.   

He was 66.

 

Legendary NASCAR owner and engine builder Robert Yates passed away on Monday.  Yates had fought liver cancer since October 2016. He was 74.

Major League Baseball playoffs begin tonight

New York Yankees hosting the Minnesota Twins in the American League wild-card game.  First pitch 8pm on ESPN.
