Tips to stay safe: Dangerous Heat and Humidity on the way…

-Drink plenty of water and take frequent breaks when working outside this week because of the heat and humidity.

-If you have a medical condition, refrain from strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day. Go outside early or late.

-Limited or eliminate beverages with sugar, caffeine and alcohol.

We may have trouble finding B&G Pies in stores?  At least til August.  B&G Pies, founded in Winston-Salem back in 1949, is searching for a new home.  The owner Shannon Wilson said the company’s business has been good this year: “We just added Fort Bragg and some other military contracts. Pasta eaters rejoice?  A new study suggesting that pasta, within the Mediterranean Diet, isn’t necessarily associated with weight gain. The Italian researchers say earlier studies which show pasta intake contributes to weight gain are incorrect. It’s likely the salty, fat-laden sauces that are the problem.  CNN

 

 

Older adults are warming up to Snapchat — but that hasn’t made the app any less popular with teens. About 38% of U.S. mobile users between the ages of 25 and 34 used Snapchat at least once in May, a number that has grown from about 19% in December 2014.http://goo.gl/wsB25F

 

One Boston cab driver has been rewarded for ‘doing the right thing’!  A patron recently left $187,000 in cash inside  “Buzzy” MacCausland’s cab. Buzzy turned over the ‘bag full of money’ to the police. Turns out that the man was recently homeless and the money from the bag was an inheritance that was going to help get him back on his feet. Job well done…    Fox News

Rowan County commissioners have agreed to provide a new ‘safe’ water system to the Dukeville community where residents have been using bottled water – since state regulators said their wells were contaminated.
