Support Religious Freedom
Governor Mike Pence and the Republican controlled legislature in Indiana are facing an “Avalanche of Intolerance” after signing into law the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).
The law is intended to protect the religious freedom of the people of Indiana but has been called a “license to discriminate”…
-To be clear, this new law is basically the same bill that was passed by the Federal government (and lawmakers) back in 1993. It was signed into law by then President Bill Clinton. This has been a federal law for over 20 years. After the Supreme Court said that the federal bill could not be applied to state laws, 19 other states have passed very similar bills.
-In an interview on ABC’s ‘This Week’, Governor Pence pointed out “Then state-Senator Barack Obama voted for (the Religious Freedom Restoration Act) when he was in the state senate of Illinois.” The Illinois bill has the very same language as the bill passed in Indiana.
