Home Break-Ins have Doubled in the period of the past ONE Month in the Ardmore Area of Winston Salem. A Neighborhood Meeting with Neighbors and WS Council Members is expected on July 29th to discuss further options of keeping their Homes and Themselves Safe!
A 15 Year-Old Teenager drove a 1997 Lexus SUV into a Winston Salem Home. The accident took place Wednesday morning, around 10:30am, in the 3900 Block of Ogburn Avenue. A 38 Year-Old passenger was taken to the Hospital for Minor Injuries, but No Other Injuries were reported. Speed and Alcohol were not involved.

Research has led to Statistics finding that People who consumed One Sugary Drink Per Day had an 18% Increased Risk of developing Diabetes over a 10 year period, compared to those who didn’t consume the drinks. After the Team adjusted for weight, the risk of developing diabetes for a Normal Weight Person was Still Increased by 13%. In the U.S., the team estimated that of the 21 million diabetes cases predicted to develop by 2020, two million of these would be prevented if people stopping consuming the drinks. In the U.K., where 2.6 million cases are predicted by 2020, they estimate that 80,000 of these would be prevented if people stopped drinking sugary drinks.

Rockingham County Paramedic, Captain William McKinney, who was killed this past January 14th, after being hit by a Tractor Trailer after he had stopped to help drivers who were injured in an earlier accident, is being Remembered Months after his death, with his life and service being honored by the North Carolina Military Order of the Purple Heart, USA. McKinney’s Family received the Plaque on Wednesday. Wanting something GOOD to come out of something Bad, the Family is hosting a Motorcycle Ride in McKinney’s Memory on August 29th.
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Michael Lorenzen got a 116 tattoo over MLB All-Star break. When he recently took the mound, Fox Sports reporter Jim Day explained Lorenzen’s new ink during the game broadcast.
“A group really influenced him. They’re called the 116 Clique … Their logo is ‘116,’” Day said, “and it’s based on the Biblical verse Romans 1:16, where it basically says, ‘Being unashamed of the gospel of Christ.'”
