Many of the apps aimed at preschoolers manipulate the youngsters to watch advertisements or make in-app purchases. Researchers from the University of Michigan Medical School analyzed the content of 135 popular free and paid apps, the majority of which were downloaded more than 10 million times each (some up to 50 million times). One development behavior expert who authored the report warns that this type of commercial exposure “may (negatively) impact children’s health and well-being.”

New requirements for high chairs in 2019.  All new high chairs in the US will adhere to a new, stricter set of safety standards starting in June 2019. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission updated its mandatory requirements for high chairs manufactured in and imported to America.  The move is designed to reduce the number of childhood injuries associated with high chairs. Students, faculty, and the community at-large are still reeling after the fatal shooting at Butler High School in Matthews, southeast of Charlotte on Monday morning.
