Have you noticed a mural on a city of Winston-Salem water tank near the Lidl location on Peter’s Creek Parkway and Clemmonsville Rd? Well, the bigger than life mural of an American river otter has placed third in the 13th annual People’s Choice competition. The 50-foot-tall American river otter can be found along the Yadkin River in Forsyth County. About 270 water tanks across the US and Canada were nominated in the competition.

Remember: Sunday, November 11 at 8am…The date and projected time for the CLOSING of a section of Business 40 through downtown Winston-Salem

Endless giving: A customer left a server at a hot dog shop in Greenville, NC a very generous ‘tip’ on Friday…$10,000 dollars in cash.
Jimmy Donaldson (a YouTube star known as MrBeast with nearly 9 million subscribers) ordered two waters, browsed the menu and then left 100 – $100 dollar bills – and a note that read; “Thanks for the delicious water,” WRAL reported.
NOTE: The server (Alaina Custer, an ECU server) was blown away…and generous. She kept $800 for herself and split the rest of the $10,000 with her co-workers.
BTW: ‘Sup Dogs’ in downtown Greenville is a favorite of locals and ECU students

Sad News: Sandra Day O’Connor, the first woman to sit on the US Supreme Court, announcing that she has dementia, “probably Alzheimer’s disease.” The 88-year-old said her diagnosis was made some time ago and that as her condition has progressed she is “no longer able to participate in public life.” *O’Connor’s son Jay O’Connor said that his mother had begun to have challenges with her short term memory. He also said that hip issues have meant she now primarily uses a wheelchair and stays close to her home in Phoenix. *O’Connor was nominated by President Ronald Reagan and took her seat on the court in 1981. Then in 2005, she announced her retirement (at age 75) from the High Court – a decision influenced by the decline in the health of her husband, John O’Connor III, who himself had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

The Christian author behind The Message Bible translation has died.
Eugene Peterson passed away after being admitted into hospice care one week ago. According to his son, the 85-year-old had been in declining health.
Peterson says writing The Message (a very free paraphrase of the scriptures) was a
20-year process, working from the original Greek and Hebrew texts to guarantee authenticity. He received the prestigious ECPA Gold Medallion Book Award for his work on it. Peterson wrote at least 35 books in his lifetime, and Relevant Magazine named him “one of the most recognized Bible scholars in America.”
Peterson lived with his wife, Jan, in Montana. The couple had three children and six grandchildren. http://www1.cbn.com/cbnnews/cwn/2018/october/the-message-bible-translator-eugene-peterson-dies

Why was The Message written? The best answer to that question comes from Eugene Peterson himself… https://www.biblegateway.com/versions/Message-MSG-Bible/
