National Teenager Day

(Plano, Texas) Firefighters rushed to the aid of a 13-year-old guy who got stuck in a washing machine Saturday afternoon. The teenager and some friends were “just playing around” when he climbed into the machine to see if he could fit.  But he COULDN’T get back out.  The boy’s parents intervened and dialed 911.  https://goo.gl/hwJ5kn

Skippy’s Hot Dogs is reopening in downtown Winston-Salem today under new ownership. Father and son Mark and Matt Whitley bought Skippy’s back in January, pledging to carry on former owner Mike Rothman’s legacy of pretzel buns and hand-cut fries. This week, the menu will be limited to a few hot dogs and chips. Next week, hand-cut fries should be added to the menu.

BTW: Skippy’s former owner Mike Rothman closed the restaurant last February after started treatment for brain cancer.

 

Remembering Jason Messer…

The 17-year-old passed away over the weekend from injuries sustained in an accident. Messer fell more than 50 feet while climbing at Hanging Rock State Park on Feb. 18, breaking several bones and suffering a traumatic brain injury.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 25, at 10:30 a.m. at Twin City Bible Church, located at 1337 Ebert St., Winston-Salem. www.TwinCityBible.org

A federal appeals court on Monday siding with a Texas school board saying that they CAN open its meetings with student-led prayers  without fear of violating the U.S. Constitution. Since 1997, the Birdville school board has let students, typically in elementary or middle school, open meetings with prayer.  https://goo.gl/xgr58I
