Texting while driving – Just say NO.  Teens aren’t the only ones checking out texts behind the wheel. Over 50% of parents admit to checking their phones while driving. Experts suggest that that this is modeling the wrong behavior for children, telling them not to do it, while they watch you do it.

 

Driving while drowsy may be as dangerous as driving drunk? Researchers say that the more tired you are the worse you drive, and the more likely you are to make mistakes.  An estimated +300,000 crashes happen every year due to drowsy driving. Young people were found to be the worst offenders…

 

Cosmic light show overnight.  The best viewing times for the Perseid meteor shower will be late tonight into early Friday morning. Up to 200 meteors could be visible per hour. BTW: This particular meteor shower is actually space debris left over by Comet Swift-Tuttle.

Katie Ledecky is back in the pool, this time to qualify for the 800m freestyle. Michael Phelps hopes to get into another final as he swims in qualifiers for the 100m butterfly.
