There’s a Variety of Events taking place today for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, including a Parade, at 11:00am, Today, along 2021 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The Parade starts at the Benbow Professional Center, 2021 MLK Drive. Seven School Bands will be marching, along with more than 100 entries.
Tax Filing Season Begins in earnest Tuesday in North Carolina, with significant Federal and State changes that could Confuse and even Infuriate some taxpayers. For example, North Carolinians will be required for the first time to provide basic information regarding their Health Insurance, or whether they had any at all, on their Federal Tax Return. Some are saying, “The changes are likely to confuse some people because they won’t need the usual paperwork to verify the deductions they have claimed in the past.”
After Four Months Of Exciting Gridiron Action, America (and the world) has its Super Bowl combatants. Sundays Emotionally Stirring Games means that Super Bowl XLIX (49) will be taking place at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Sunday, February 1st – with Tom Brady (became NFL’s All-Time Leading Passer early in the First Quarter) and the New England Patriots battling it out with the Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks.
The City of Greensboro is in the national spotlight and it’s because of the 2015 U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The coliseum was able to host three major events — competition, practice and Fan fest – all in the same building, whereas other venues couldn’t accommodate that. One of the Best Reasons to come out, is that all of these skaters earned their places to get here and, they are all up and coming skaters. So, you might be seeing a future Olympic Champion, if you come and watch skating this week.
A Man Sandwiched Between Two Semitrailers after a 26-car pileup survived and was miraculously uninjured. Kaleb Whitby walked away from the crash with just Band-Aids.
A photo of him involved in the mangled wreck on an Oregon highway is quickly going viral.
Whitby is well known in the bodybuilding community and has ties to several gyms in Fort Mill and the Charlotte area.
Whitby’s Sister, Kaily, said of her Brother, “He basically was praying the entire time. It was all through prayer that he was OK. He said just watching things happen, he just braced himself and was like, ‘If this is my time to go, let it be. If it’s not, let me be OK!”
Nearly Five Years after it hit best-seller lists, a book that purported to be a 6-year-old boy’s story of visiting angels and heaven after being injured in a bad car crash is being pulled from shelves. The young man at the center of The Boy Who Came Back from Heaven, Alex Malarkey, said this week that the story was all made up.
Thursday, Tyndale House confirmed that it is taking “the book and all ancillary products out of print.”
