Know who’s to blame for this nasty, bone-chilling cold? Elsa…
Police in one town in Kentucky have issued an APB for the Ice Queen from ‘Frozen’ with her “cold never bothered me anyway”. “Suspect is a blonde female last seen wearing a long blue dress and is known to burst into song ‘Let it Go!’” the suspect description read. Seriously, the tongue-in-cheek public service announcement was recently used to alert residents to please be careful in the cold and ice. So, wanna build a snowman…? http://goo.gl/yV1gOZ
Did you know: If the sidewalk outside your home is covered with snow or ice, you may be breaking a city ordinance? In Lexington, Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point, it is up to you (the property owner) to clear the sidewalk ‘touching their property line’ of any snow or ice. The penalty for non-compliance does include a fine, but usually NOT enforced. http://goo.gl/RKKviS
Warning: The FDA is advising people with peanut allergies to avoid ‘cumin’ after several shipments of the spice tested positive for peanuts – NOT listed on the label. http://goo.gl/4jAAVN
Random Act of Kindness…
Teresa Adams was driving home when her son, Tommy, told her to stop the car.
“There’s an older man with a walker shoveling snow — I’ll help him out…”
Teresa told WTVR the man seemed surprised when her son asked him for the snow shovel.
“I told him to get back into his car because it was cold,” the teen said.
The proud mother snapped a photo of her son’s good deed and shared it on Facebook. The older man was grateful for the help.
“He said ‘God bless you, the world needs more people like you…’

Tis the season for ‘dry, cracked’ skin.
What’s your best remedy? Join the conversation on our Facebook page / wbfj.
Here are some helpful tips… http://goo.gl/k4uIWv
-Moisturizing is essential (hand lotion)
-Add a humidifier or vaporizer to help re-hydrate your skin
-Don’t forget the Lip Balm…
-Don’t shower in ‘super-hot’ water (removes natural oils from the skin)
Tips on surviving the latest ‘deep freeze’…
Wear extra layers of clothing when going outside…
Don’t forget to grab your hat and gloves…
-If your car battery is close to 3 years old, have it checked / replaced…
-Warm up your vehicle, but NEVER in an enclosed area (or garage)…
-Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze-up.
-Make certain your tires are properly inflated.
-Open kitchen cabinet doors to allow more heat to get to your water pipes. If your water pipes do freeze, do not thaw them with extreme heat. Instead, thaw the pipes slowly with warm air from your hair dryer.
-Keep portable heaters at least 3 feet away from furniture and drapes.
