Storm update: ‘Quick Clearance Law’ now in effect

When the governor declared a state of emergency yesterday, the ‘quick clearance law’ went into effect.   Meaning NC DOT can do whatever it takes to get the highways clear.

So here’s the deal – if you’re on the side of the road with your flashers on, calling for help, your car is fine. But the second you get out, and walk away your vehicle could be towed off. DOT has a few towing companies constantly driving up and down looking for abandoned vehicles. The crews will take your car back to Highway Patrol. They then run your plates and vin number and will send you a letter in the mail telling you where your car is.
The cost could easily be $200 or more! 336-334-5500
