Store Brands vs National Brands: Research showing that Recession has forced most of us into new cost-saving habits at the grocery store

Store Brands vs National Brands: Research compiled by the Food Marketing Institute, reveals that most of us have developed new cost-saving habits during the current recession.  Consumers in every demographic category have changed their spending habits. And, nearly half of the consumers in the F-M-I study believe that the quality of store-brand products is just as good as national brands.  A recent
Nielsen report said store-brand dollars grew 21% (2007 to 2011) compared to the
pricier national-brand sales. Check out more of the article from the Greensboro News and Record: www.news-record.com/content/2012/07/29/article/popularity_of_store_brands_likely_to_continue

Lost and Found: Mary Jo Rafferty of Holly Ridge has her high school ring back, 33 years after she lost it at the beach in Surf City.  The Daily News of
Jacksonville reporting that Mary Jo was a senior at Dixon High School in 1979
when she lost her ring. Rafferty lost the ring while sitting with friends on a railing. They searched but were unable to find the ring.  An assistant principal at the school called Rafferty’s mother earlier this month to see if one of her daughters had lost a ring.  Tricia Lewis of Lynchburg, Va., found it while on vacation. Here’s the mystery:  Rafferty says the house where she lost the ring was at the north end of Surf City.  Lewis found the ring on the south end of town.   http://www.news-record.com/content/2012/07/30/article/nc_womans_ring_found_at_beach_33_years_later
