The Winston-Salem / Forsyth County school board has voted to ‘tweak’ the school system’s policy on the Pledge of Allegiance after several months of discussion. The long-standing requirement was that students could opt out of saying the Pledge of Allegiance for ‘religious reasons’. Now, students can opt out at will. THE TEEN BIRTH RATE HAS DROPPED. A Federal report showing that the actual number of teen births in 2010 (in all race categories) was the lowest in almost 70 years. BTW: Birth rates for teens tended to be highest in the South and Southwest and lowest in the Northeast and Upper Midwest.

SOLD: The Grove Park Inn – Resort & Spa has been sold to a private equity company for an undisclosed amount of money. K-S-L Capital Partners, a private equity firm specializing in travel and leisure, plans a $25 million dollar renovation as part of the resort’s 100th anniversary next year. The Grove Park, which opened back in 1913, was built of granite stones and overlooks the city of Asheville.
No injuries after a car rear-ended a school bus earlier this morning in Yadkin County. Fox 8 reporting that the accident happened on around 7:30 a.m. on Highway 601 between Speer and Reece roads. Bus #1 serves Starmount High and Middle schools.
