Senate approves lower student loan rate…Royal name for the royal baby…Former President shaves head for a good cause (Thursday News)

The Senate in DC approving a bi-partisan deal that ensures lower interest rates on loans for students heading to college this Fall. The bill now goes to the House of Representatives. FYI: Student loan debt has skyrocketed in recent years. In 2011, students on average owed nearly $27,000 dollars in loans…making loans for continued education second only to mortgages as the largest debt that consumers carry.    The new 3.86% lower interest rate doesn’t apply to loans that students get from private lenders. It only affects Stafford loans, which are made by the U.S. government to help finance a college education.    http://money.cnn.com/2013/07/24/news/economy/senate-student-loans/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

The Queen stopped by Kensington Palace on Wednesday, while Uncle Harry and Aunt Pippa swung by too. BTW: Little George will be able to pick whatever name he likes, if and when he becomes king (after all, he is third in line). http://newday.blogs.cnn.com/2013/07/25/5-things-to-know-for-your-new-day-thursday-july-25th-2013/?hpt=hp_t2

Bald is beautiful: Former President George H.W. Bush (or Bush, Sr) recently shaved his head for a good cause: to show solidarity for the sick 2 year old child of a Secret Service agent.  The 89-year-old former president noticed members of his Secret Service detail with newly shaved heads.  He inquired and then joined in support. The 2-year-old son of an agent, identified only as Patrick, is undergoing treatment for leukemia (and is losing his hair as a result). The security detail has launched a website, www.patrickspals.org  to help with expenses associated with Patrick’s treatment. BTW: George and Barbara Bush lost their second child, 4-year-old Robin Bush, to leukemia almost 60 years ago. http://apnews.myway.com/article/20130724/DA7O4KQ03.html
