It was a routine dental visit for 11 year old Journee Woodard of Edmond, Oklahoma when dental hygienist, Rachel Stroble, noticed something odd. No, it wasn’t Journee’s teeth. It was her eyes.
“Her eyes look yellow…abnormal,” said Dr. Michael Chandler, Journee’s dentist.
Dr. Chandler informed Journee’s mom, who took her to a doctor. Little did they know she’d be fighting for her life. “…days later Journee underwent a 9 hour surgery to remove a grapefruit-size tumor…a major operation that removed part of her pancreas, stomach, gall bladder and part of the intestine.”
But the doctor is quick to point out that he and his crew were simply being diligent and doing their job. Find out more about Journee’s Journey and a way to donate to the family on the News Blog at wbfj.fm
