Tragic loss in the line of duty.   19 Arizona firefighters were killed on Sunday fighting an out of control wildfire northwest of Phoenix.  CNN reporting that this was the deadliest loss for firefighters nationwide since 9/11.    The 19 Arizona firefighters were part of an elite squad.  Authorities believe that a lightning strike sparked the Yarnell Hill fire on Friday.  More than 34 million people are expected to travel by car over the July 4th holiday, according to AAA. Planning a trip to the Beach this summer?  Take along a healthy respect for the ocean while on vacation.  A new study suggests that injuries to beachgoers caused by ocean waves are more common and severe than previously suspected.  The most common types of beach injuries:  broken bones, neck pain, plus, ankle and knee sprains. There were even three fatalities. Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has received a $200,000 dollar grant from the Blazeman Foundation to expand its research of A-L-S  (or Lou Gehrig’s disease).   BTW: A-L-S is a progressive and fatal disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.  www.journalnow.com

A federal audit showing that a single North Carolina address was sent more than 2,400 I-R-S REFUNDS during the 2011 tax year!  The amount of the refunds – totaling more than $7 million dollars –  was sent to an undisclosed residence in Raleigh. The IRS is still investigating.  www.journalnow.com
