The Dixie Classic Fair continues this weekend and Wake Forest has a ‘home game’ on Saturday hosting Florida State at BB and T Field, right across the street from the fair. The Dixie Classic Fair opens at 9am Saturday morning with Kick off for the Wake – FSU game at 12:30pm.
Traffic Alert near the Joel Coliseum: Due to the extra traffic, a shuttle service will run from 9am until 5pm from WS First (formerly First Assembly of God) on University Parkway to a drop-off point in front of the Joel Coliseum near BB&T Field. It’s a great time to refinance. Mortgage rates dropped to a record low 3.94 percent for a 30-year fixed mortgage rate this week. The average rate on a 15-year fixed loan dropped to 3.26 percent (also a record).
Kids of Childhood Cancer is hosting a benefit concert to benefit children and families battling cancer at Brenner Children’s Hospital’s pediatric oncology ward. “Bowzer and the Stingrays” (yes, that’s Bowzer from the group Sha na na) will perform Saturday evening at 7pm at Reynolds Auditorium in Winston-Salem. “Rocky and the Rollers” as well as vocal groups from Mount Tabor and Reynolds High schools will be performing. Fortunate Sons, a group of 18 active-duty Marines, are hiking the entire 1,000-mile North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail” (MST) in what they are calling “the journey for injured Marines.” The 42-day journey began on Sunday (October 2nd) at Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokey Mountains and will end at Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks on Veterans Day weekend, November 13.
