'Obamacare' mandate goes before the Supreme Court this week (News Update)

The‘individual mandate’ portion’ of the President’s controversial healthcare law will be front and center before the Supreme Court over the next three days. Justices will hear arguments on whether the ‘individual mandate’ portion of ‘Obama-care’ violates the Constitution.  A decision is expected by late June, in the midst of the Presidential election campaign.  BTW: The case has been allotted six hours of argument time, the most since the mid-1960s. (South Carolina) A Boiling Springs man was arrested after kicking open the front door of the South Side Free Will Baptist Church and pointing a shotgun at the church’s congregation yesterday morning.  38-year-old Jesse Gates was taken down by the pastor, the pastor’s grandson and two church members.  No one was hurt in the incident. The sheriff said the parishioners did everything right – “…they locked the door, and were calling 911 at the same time.”  Aaron Guyton, the pastor’s grandson, who has a concealed weapons permit, didn’t draw his weapon or make any actions towards this gentleman until Gates forced the issue.  www.foxcarolina.com/story/17251517/churchgoers-subdue-gunman-at-spartanburg-church

Gallagher is hanging up his sledgehammer?  The comedian says he’s had his fill of performing live onstage and is retiring after 32 years.  Gallagher, best known for smashing watermelons with a sledgehammer, had a heart attack on March 14th. Gallagher came out of a medically induced coma last week and was released from a hospital Wednesday.   

Change of ‘heart’:  Former Vice President Dick Cheney is recovering after successful heart transplant surgery over the weekend. Cheney has had five heart attacks over the past 25 years. A 7.1 magnitude earthquake hitting central Chile last night.  Good news: No reports of casualties or major damage.

Men’s NCAA College Basketball Tournament:   The Final Four is set and there will be NO teams from the ACC.  Kentucky,Louisville,Kansas andOhioState move on. Kansas over UNC: 80 – 67 last night.

Five students and teachers from Sumner Elementary School in Greensboro are participating in the fourth annual ‘White House Kitchen Garden spring planting’ event in Washington, DC today.
