Not cool in school? Atheist couple / Humanist group challenges 'Under God' in Pledge of Allegiance in classrooms

The Massachusetts Supreme Court heard oral arguments yesterday on whether the Pledge of Allegiance should be BANNED in that state. The American Humanist Association representing an anonymous atheist couple told justices that atheist children “are denied meaningful participation in this patriotic exercise” because the language refers to “God”. Lawyers, defending the Pledge of Allegiance, cited an earlier court ruling that reciting the pledge must be voluntary in schools.   www.religionnews.com/2013/09/04/mass-supreme-court-weighs-challenge-to-pledge-of-allegiance/

The pilgrims first set foot in the New World on Plymouth Rock in search of religious freedom.  Plymouth Rock is located in what would later become known as Massachusetts, and now one couple is seeking to remove “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance.
