Wake Forest University Researchers and Students at Hanes Magnet School
are the First to Build and Install the World’s First Solar/Thermal Generator called a HySterE panel.
Dr. David Carroll, Wake Forest Physics Professor, and Director of the Center for Nanotechnology,
said the Camp has Many Purposes.  “What we’re trying to do is Teach Kids about Solar Power, and the Technology behind it… and, the Hope is, that, These Panels will be able to Solve the Need for places that Have a Need for Compact Energy Sources… like in, the Bahamas,” said Carroll.
Called – “Power Up” – the Summer Camp at Hanes is the First of its kind for Sixth, Seventh and
Eighth Graders in Forsyth County. Hanes Magnet School was Recently named the Nation’s BEST Magnet School by Magnet Schools of America, in Part, because of Innovative Programs like This Camp!

The University of North Carolina School of the Arts Film School
has been named one of the “Best Film Schools of 2013,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
UNCSA is ranked #12 and is joined by the likes of Columbia, Northwestern and NYU.
The Report takes into account:  Alumni Work… Tuition… and, Strength of Facility.
UNCSA was the First State Supported School of the Arts in the Entire Country!

Camp Carefree, which provides a One Week Camping Experience for Children suffering from Chronic Illness, is Looking for Volunteers.
The Organization is in need of Male Volunteers who are interested in serving as Camp Counselors. Volunteers must be 18, and provide their own transportation.
Previous Camp Experience is Not Required.
The Camp is Also in need of Donations, including:  Paper Plates… Cups… Plastic Utensils…
Sunscreen… Toilet Paper… Individually Wrapped Snacks and Chips… Bottled Waters… Juice Boxes… Large & Extra-Large Latex-Free Gloves… Household Bug Repellent… All-Purpose Cleaning Products… Wet Wipes… Garbage Bags… Pool Toys… and, Life Jackets!

If You Own a Business in Yadkinville, you can now get a little help sprucing up your property.
The Town is Now Providing “Business Improvement Grants.”  Business Owners can Apply for up to $500.00 in Grants; however Owners Must Invest, at least, One Dollar for Every Dollar they get in Grant Money.  The “Yadkinville Appearance Committee” will be handling the Project.
