News-February 17, 2015– Icy Roads, Teens Not Getting Enough Sleep, Hobby Lobby Hiring

The triad is waking up to an inch or two of snow on the ground and dangerous driving conditions following our first winter storm of the season.  Roadways, especially secondary roads, are covered with a sheet of ice and packed snow.  Please, if you don’t absolutely have to go somewhere, stay off the roads.

If your teen is catching a few extra hours of shut-eye thanks to the snow day, that’s probably a good thing.  Another study has been released showing that American teenagers aren’t getting enough sleep. Over half of teens reported getting less than 7 hours of sleep at night.  However, experts say adolescents need 9 to 10 hours of sleep for optimal health and brain function.

I have three awesome kids – Andrew, Carley and Laura. My husband, Alton, is a delivery driver by day with dreams of one day publishing his own comic book. Yes, he is a geek, but I love him anyway.

I have been working at WBFJ since September 2004 when God threw me out of the boat I was riding in and set me on a new and wonderful course. I love co-hosting the morning show, although the lack of sleep does make me a bit loopy at times.
