Expect More Car on the Roadways over the Labor Day Weekend… that’s pretty much expected as many people will be trying to get that – if you will – last (un)Official Summer Weekend in! … And when you are traveling through North Carolina, remember the State’s “Booze It and Lose It” campaign runs through Labor Day Monday.

New Signs have been erected indicating that U.S. 311 between Winston-Salem and High Point is part of Interstate 74, but it appears that federal officials made a mistake when they made the designation… The designation will remain, and state officials have agreed to upgrade the road in the future. State officials said the designation has been allowed to stand even though the road lacks shoulders of the proper width. http://myfox8.com/2014/08/28/i-74-designation-a-mix-up-in-forsyth-county-but-will-stay/

Residents are hoping the success of a national program will help lift those who want out of poverty here in the Triad. The program is based around a group of people coming together, using the many people they know, to help someone or a family living in poverty. The help can be finding a better job, transportation and better housing “I’ve been in poverty and I have family that’s still in poverty,” said Crystal Rook of Winston-Salem. Rook says she is proof the principals of the Circles program works as a small network of people helped open doors for her to attend college and get out of poverty. http://myfox8.com/2014/08/28/residents-hope-national-program-can-help-lift-people-out-of-poverty/

BACK-TO-SCHOOL REMINDER: School IS IN, so remember when following a School Bus, if that School Stops, YOU MUST STOP as well! EXCEPTIONS: On-coming Traffic on a road with 4 or more lanes (with a median or a center turning lane). When in doubt… just Slow Down and STOP!
