Breaking News:  A student has been shot at Butler High School located in the town of Matthews south of Charlotte. The shooter has been arrested and identified as another student.    SOURCE: WSOC TV

 

The accused Pittsburgh synagogue shooter is expected to make his first court appearance later today.  11 were fatally wounded, 6 injured on Saturday (including 4 police officers).  The oldest victim was 97. The youngest was 54.

NOTE:  The members of Temple Emanuel in Winston-Salem will host a vigil TONIGHT starting at 6pm (OCT 29) to remember the victims at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh. Temple Emanuel is located at 201 Oakwood Drive in Winston-Salem.

And the winner is… “To Kill a Mockingbird,” a coming-of-age story about racism and injustice, overpowered wizards and time travelers to be voted America’s best-loved novel by PBS readers nationwide. The 1960 book by Harper Lee dominated voting, landing at #1 in “The Great American Read” PBS survey.  More than 4 million votes were cast in the six-month-long contest that put 100 titles to the test.

Rowling’s “Harry Potter” boy wizard tales; Jane Austen’s romance “Pride and Prejudice”; and J.R.R.
