The ‘weighted blanket’ craze continues. And there is some science to reducing anxiety and stress relief.  As a general rule, a weighted blanket should cover at least 95% of your body and weigh at least 10% of your total body weight.

The conservative group One Million Moms is taking aim at Burger King for using what it calls “an inappropriate word” in a commercial promoting their new Impossible Whopper. One Million Moms saying that using profanity during their latest ad “is irresponsible and tasteless”.

SAD NEWS: The Pentagon confirming that two US soldiers were killed Saturday in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb.   Both soldiers (in their 20’s) had been deployed through the 82nd Airborne Division out of Fort Bragg. Regal Cinemas is switching its soft drink options for 2020.

The movie company will no longer serve Coca-Cola at its theaters, only Pepsi products stating by this Spring.  In addition to Pepsi, other PepsiCo drinks offered will include Pure Leaf, Mountain Dew, Lifewater, Bubly sparkling water and AMP Game Fuel.

Go Tigers! 😊   The national championship showdown between Clemson and LSU happens tonight.  Kick off at 8pm at the Superdome in New Orleans.

For Clemson, a national title would be its second championship in a row and third in four years.  LSU’s campus is roughly 80 miles away from New Orleans.  The winners: LSU students: The school approving the cancellation of the first two days of spring-semester classes (today and Tuesday) at the LSU campus in Baton Rouge.

Headline of the Morning: “Chiefs Keep Scoring Stadium Runs out of Fireworks”

The Chiefs taking on the Texans in a AFC Divisional Round game on Sunday. The Texans raced out to a 24-0 lead over the Chiefs in the first half, but Kansas City scored 41 unanswered points to quickly take the lead.

EnergyUnited is now accepting applications for its student scholarship program.

The “Empowering the Future” scholarship program awards two $5,000 scholarships to qualified students currently enrolled in their senior year of high school who plan to attend a college, university or technical school after graduating high school.

ELIGIBILITY:

Students must reside in a residence that is serviced by EnergyUnited or attend a school serviced by EnergyUnited. Either electric or propane services qualify!

Schools in our listening area include: Central Davidson, South Davidson, Davie High School, Ledford.  Application deadline is March 31, 2020.

A growing list of counties in North Carolina are becoming Second Amendment sanctuaries. These sanctuaries are areas that have adopted resolutions where county leaders say they’re standing up for the Second Amendment and won’t enforce certain gun control measures.  Davidson County is the latest county to consider joining the list.

The resolution for Davidson County to be a Second Amendment sanctuary will be discussed at the next Davidson County Commissioners meeting set for this Tuesday, (January 14) at 6pm. There will be opportunity for public comment.

Forsyth County Beekeepers Association: ‘Bee School’ starts in February.

The classes will run from Feb. 1 through April 4.

Classes are held on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. until noon at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Forsyth County Center, 1450 Fairchild Road, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27105. This five-week, in-depth course covers hive equipment, honey bee biology, pests, and year-round management to produce healthy bees and productive hives.
