“Meals on Wheels” reaches another milestone

The Governor (Roy Cooper) and his wife, Kristin making a stop in Winston-Salem on Wednesday to make a ‘special’ delivery, the ceremonial 6 millionth meal from the Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels program, which delivers meals to needy senior citizens in Forsyth County.

The recipient: Miss Rosalie Young (age 91) who lives on Druid Hills Drive, where she has lived the past 37 years. Young, who is legally blind, has been receiving meals for three years. “I feel so blessed.”  BTW: The meal consisted of steak, collard greens, mashed potatoes, a biscuit and a fruit cup.

The Winston-Salem “Meals on Wheels” organization, established in 1962, delivers over 1,000 meals to participants every weekday. BTW: The senior population in Forsyth County is expected to grow more than 50% between 2013 and 2024 (or from 65,000 to 100,000 seniors). https://goo.gl/voVgRW
