This Week on Sunday at 5 on WBFJ… Verne will chat with Amanda Van Ormer with Maandalizi (MAN-dah-LEE-zee) Ministries.
Maandalizi Ministries is a non-profit organization bringing child sponsorship and relief funds to orphanages and communities in Kenya by raising support, funds, and supplies locally. Amanda’s sister Carly currently oversees St. Ruth’s orphanage – where children have been left abandoned because of HIV-AIDS and post-election violence. They are packed into over-crowded and extremely harsh living environments. “Maandalizi” means “preparation” in Swahili…
Child Sponsorships: $35 a month will help provide food, clothing, shelter, education, and healthcare to the child. 100% of sponsorship goes to the child! A community sponsorship program costs just $50 dollars a month. The ministry is currently collecting new or gently used Bibles (adult and kid’s Bibles)
Upcoming Triad events: Planning a 5k at Bur-Mil Park this August 2013. The 5k is comprised of two events: Participants of the Water Walk will have the opportunity to walk a day in the life of the Kenyan women while carrying gallons of water on the course. The Orphan Run is a competitive race that will raise awareness and sponsorship for St. Ruth’s Orphanage in Ndhiwa, Kenya. Funds from both events will go towards building a clean water well in the village.
