Students attending WSSU, School of the Arts and ASU will be effected this summer and fall. The UNC board of governors have voted to discontinue 46 academic degree programs and consolidate 10 others across the UNC system with the 2015-16 academic year.
A statement released Tuesday by the UNC system’s General Administration explained the process of degree discontinuation.
The system periodically reviews programs that have awarded fewer than 20 degrees in the past two years at the undergraduate level or fewer than 11 degrees in the most recent year. This year, the system reviewed 221 degree programs across the state.
The News & Observer reports similar discontinuations have occurred every two years since 1995.
