Ever forgotten to return a book or movie to your local library?  The book: “Ibsen – the Master Builder” was checked out of a library in Burlington,Vermont in 1961…and wasn’t returned to circulation until last month.  50+ years? Needless to say, librarians were thrilled to see the long lost book returned. “Oh it’s exciting,” said librarian Rebecca Goldberg. “It’s exciting to see something that has been out for a long time.” At the current rate, 25 cents a day for a late book, overdue charges would total more than $1,800 dollars. However, the actual fine is far less – $5 is the maximum fine allowed. http://www.kctv5.com/story/18938880/library-receives-overdue-book-50-years-later

12 year old message in a bottle? A group of volunteers picking up trash in a coastalMainecommunity found a plastic soda bottle under a spruce tree with other debris.  Becky Lee spotted something inside the bottle…it was a note from a young Canadian girl named Taryn, who was writing about her vacation in New Brunswick – back in July 2000.  Becky suspects that Taryn got help from her parents with writing the note because Taryn was three years old back in 2000. Becky is “excited” to possibly meet Taryn who would now be a teenager. SOUTH ADDISON, Maine http://myfox8.com/2012/07/03/message-in-a-bottle-found-during-island-cleanup/
