Health officials say they have confirmed eight cases of whooping cough at an Elementary School in Alamance County. More than 600 people were examined for the illness by the Alamance County Health Department after the first case of Whooping Cough was identified last month at B. Everett Jordan Elementary School. FYI: Whooping Cough (also called pertussis) is a bacterial infection that causes severe coughing fits. (WXII)
Weather officials confirming that storm damage in Burke and Rutherford counties on Wednesday evening was caused by an EF-2 tornado. Ten people were injured, with three people being airlifted from the area for medical attention. The National Weather Service confirming that an EF-2 tornado has winds up to 115 mph.
