There are few costumes more recognizable than the blue-and-white checkered dress that Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.

On Monday, an unidentified buyer bought the iconic dress for a cool $1.5 million dollars – over the phone during an auction.  http://goo.gl/AyNr9x

BTW: Several dresses were created for Judy Garland to wear in the film. Some she did not wear during filming; they are referred to as “test” dresses.

Traffic Alerts…

While you’re traveling this Thanksgiving holiday, your main job is to be a safe driver. Focus on the road, and let everything else wait…

The Thanksgiving “Click It or Ticket” campaign runs through Sunday.

Remember: Buckle up. Every seat. Every time.

Most construction projects will be suspended thru Sunday night.

Check out some exceptions on the News Blog. NCDOT

There will be NO Winston-Salem Air Show next September because of a possible construction project at Smith Reynolds Airport in 2016. The airport has an opportunity to get a nearly $1.8 million dollar grant to repave and reconstruct the ramp at the main terminal and timing of the project would conflict with the air show. BTW: The first air show in Winston was back in 1911…  (Steve Flippin will step down as air show director at the end of December)  http://goo.gl/AHGVwa

Law enforcement: Please LOCK your vehicles and hide your valuables. WS Police were called out to 3 separate churches after getting calls that cars in the parking lot were broken into during last weekend’s services.

Shoppers Delight: Experts say don’t get sucked into “buy more-save more,” “flash sales” and “today-only” special values this holiday season.  Hint:  If shopping online, there’s often a threshold to be reached for free shipping.Don’t spend extra only to have your items ship for free. Check to see if you can opt for in-store pick-up.

Product Alert?  Some parents are not so happy with one of this season’s hottest Christmas toys. They’re called Bunchems.   Bunchems are these cute and colorful toys, made up of small squishy balls with spikes that allow them to connect together to create different shapes. After being listed on Target’s annual Top Toys list for 2015, Bunchems are flying off the shelves.BUT, Bunchems can quickly turn into a rat’s nest when one or more of the balls get stuck in long hair.   BTW: Bunchems can be removed with a moisturizing substance, like hair conditioner or vegetable oil. But it could still take hours to get the things out of your child’s hair…  Buyer beware!        http://goo.gl/y0LsIo

Unbelievable story out of New York… An infant was found in the manger of an indoor nativity scene at a Church in Queens earlier in the week. The church custodian who found the baby boy told police the manger was empty when he left the church for lunch and when he returned, he heard a baby crying. That’s when he found the baby wrapped in towels inside the manger. The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached.

The infant was taken to an area hospital and listed in good condition.

Police are looking for the mother…

FYI: According to the Safe Haven Law, a church is considered a safe place to leave an infant within 72 hours of birth, but a responsible person must be in attendance at the time of the drop-off.      http://goo.gl/Rydihd
