A chance of snow flurries today in Boone and fancy Gap!  Flurries maybe in the Triad?

January = Resolutions / Goals –   Roughly 1 in 3 Americans resolve to better themselves in some way.  While about 75% of people stick to their goals for at least a week,  less than half (46%) are still on target six months later…   Top 10 Commonly Broken New Year’s Resolutions   Source: Time  http://goo.gl/iayHlK

Update: Business 40 EB through downtown Winston-Salem is back open after being CLOSED overnight due to an officer-involved shooting.  A man who tried to drive away from an early-morning police stop shot a Winston-Salem police officer several times as the officer struggled with the driver, Police Chief Barry Rountree said during an early morning press conference. During the struggle, the suspect was shot with his own gun, but neither the officer nor the suspect received life-threatening injuries. http://goo.gl/vYlias

For the first time, the road to the Super Bowl in the NFC will go through Charlotte.  The Carolina Panthers captured the #1 seed for the first time in their 21-year NFL history with a 38-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. Cam Newton ran for two touchdowns and threw for two more.

BTW: Newton tied Steve Young’s NFL record for most career TDs rushing by a quarterback with 43. Young took 15 seasons to reach that plateau; Newton did it in five.   Source: Winston-Salem Journal

Hot Now: Panthers win, half price dozen original glazed at Krispy Kreme.

Our pleasure: Recently, several Texas Chick-fil-A restaurants were serving food on a Sunday (Dec. 27).  The Christian-owned business, typically NOT open on Sundays, broke their own long standing rule in order to feed those affected by deadly tornadoes and floods near Dallas. Chick-fil-A donated meals to victims as well as volunteer rescue workers.    http://goo.gl/3Lc9cf

Tax filing season on the way: You can begin filing on January 19.

You will have until April 18 to file or request for an extension.

BTW: The average wait time for a refund = 21 days.   http://goo.gl/DqL5xh

In a move that could cost the ministry an untold number of volunteers, Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree program will require its coordinators to affirm its ‘statement of faith’ beginning January 2016. The requirement is an effort to ensure theological alignment between volunteers and the program that, for 33 years, has delivered gifts (and the gospel) to inmates and their children.
