Day 3 of the partial government shut-down:  About 30 employees who work for the EPA (or Environment Protection Agency) out of the Research Triangle Park spent yesterday morning volunteering at Herndon Park in Durham, pruning trees, putting down mulch and picking up trash. Most saying that volunteering helps them deal with the stress of the shutdown. WRAL    BTW: The last time the government shutdown during the Clinton administration:  21 days long

 Blown tire: Investigators saying now that a tire malfunctioned, causing a deadly chain reaction in that church bus crash that claimed the lives of eight people on Wednesday. DOT: Dozens of new traffic cameras will be added by the end of this week.  A new project includes upgrading the region’s traffic camera network. Workers have installed 76 new cameras making 168 total cameras around Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.
