Ashley Furniture Industries has not disclosed its average wage at the Advance plant.
Ashley confirmed Wednesday it plans to add up to 300 employees as part of the latest growth spurt at its 2.8-million-square-foot Advance campus.
Meanwhile, Gildan Activewear Inc. has hired 180 of a pledged 290 employees for its Mocksville yarn-spinning plant that is projected to commence production in the second half of 2015 and be fully ramped-up in 2016.
When it committed to the plant in April 2012, state economic officials said the annual payroll for the initial 550 jobs would be $15.5 million. That averages out to $28,182 per employee.
By comparison, the average wage for the Gildan plant is expected to be $32,000, above the Davie average of $30,000.
