The National Weather Service has confirmed that an EF-1 tornado did touch down in Wilkes County, west of Traphill, around suppertime on Monday. Another EF-1 tornado was also confirmed in Cana, Va.

The U.S. Postal Service is trying to figure out what happened to more than 100 Social Security checks that were supposed to be sent to Trinity last Friday. Fox 8 reporting that the Trinity post office received only 10 or so checks during their normal September delivery. Questions: Call the Social Security field office in Asheboro at 1-888-472-6119

While many Americans worry that the Social Security Administration won’t have enough money left to pay their benefits when they retire, the agency is doling out millions of dollars to people…who aren’t even alive. The Social Security inspector general estimates that the agency has sent out some $40 million dollars in erroneous payments to deceased beneficiaries — even though the administration had already recorded their deaths in its records.
