Students at Greensboro Day school will be wearing white t-shirts in memory of 14 year old Tyler Williams who was tragically killed in a tubing accident at Badin Lake on Saturday. Two other teens, also Greensboro Day students, were also injured in the boating accident. Facebook: Classmates were asked to “wear white t-shirts with characteristics you appreciated about Tyler written all over the shirt”.
Students at Midway Elementary School will be eating their lunches in the school gym over the next several weeks after a fire damaged a portion of the cafeteria Sunday afternoon. Food will be brought to the school from another school. A short-circuited computer likely starting the electrical fire.
A 21-year-old Lexington man drowned at High Rock Lake yesterday afternoon. One of two deputies patrolling the Pebble Beach swimming access jumped in to try to find the man…but the murky water made it difficult for him to see. The accident happened at the swimming access off Highway 8 south of Lexington.
More than a week after Hurricane Irene made landfall along the outer Banks, residents of Hatteras Island were allowed to return home starting at noon on Monday.
