Winston-Salem based Lowes Foods has opened another budget grocery store.  The newest “Just Save” store is located in the former Lowes Foods location on National Highway in Thomasville.  FYI: They even have a ‘dollar’ aisle.   Only specific Lowes Foods stores are being transitioned into Just Save stores.

Two High Schools have banning ‘streaming video’ of their football games. The Gaston Gazette reporting that Lincolnton and West Lincoln high schools have banned the practice because…the athletic directors worry they’ll lose money from people who otherwise would pay $5 dollars to buy a ticket to the game. Other coaches complain that streaming video of their games could allow schools in other parts of the state to easily scout the teams online, which could put the teams at a disadvantage during playoffs. The N.C. High School Athletic Association approved streaming video earlier this year to give schools another way to make money.

The NBA has canceled the remainder of the pre-season. The first two weeks of the regular season could be wiped out if there is no labor agreement by early next week.

A commemorative Civil War license plate is being issued to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the War between the states. The plate depicts three soldiers in silhouette standing around a cannon along with the words “Freedom,” ”Sacrifice” and “Memory.” The plates cost $30 dollars per year, but won’t be manufactured for drivers until at least 300 have been pre-ordered.  The plate will be marketed through 2015.  www.nccivilwar150.com/
