Finishing the Boston Marathon in Greensboro (Friday News)

The Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” came through High Point Thursday morning, as Part of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, which is the Largest Fundraiser FOR The Special Olympics.  Thousands of Officers from All 50 States participate in the event Every Year.  Officers from the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office and Greensboro Police handed the torch off to the High Point Police Department, who then handed it off to officers from Kernersville.   http://myfox8.com/2013/05/23/local-police-pass-the-torch-for-special-olympics/

When Bombs Brought the Boston Marathon to a Halt, last month, the World Watched in Horror.  Fourth Graders at Archer Elementary in Greensboro did More than just Watch–THEY JUMPED Into Action!

 Wanna be a Trained Weather Spotter?   The National Weather Service is offering Basic and Advanced SKYWARN Severe Weather Spotter Training Tomorrow Morning at the ForsythCountyCooperativeExtensionBuilding on Fairchild Road in Winston-Salem. The Training Is Free.  NOTE: The training will include how and why buildings fail in high winds; thunderstorm development and severity; recognizing storm and cloud elements; anticipating storm motions, intensity and severity based on cloud structure; and lightning dynamics and threats.

A Local Veterans Group Needs Volunteers interested in taking part in the upcoming Memorial Day service this Monday evening at the Joel Coliseum in Winston-Salem.   Junior ROTC and Scouting groups are needed to participate in demonstrations, presentation and flag-folding ceremonies.
