News NC Voter ID bill heads to the Governor's desk

Senate Panel Adds Sweeping Provisions to Voter ID Bill: Early voting limits, ban on straight-ticket voting, and end to same-day registration included.    Some amendments were made on Tuesday that some said are more restrictive while others said that the move for voter identification and the changes in early voting will instill confidence back into the electoral process.   Details: Changes include what forms of photo id will be accepted. The bill would allow military and veterans ID cards, while excluding college IDs.    The bill would also eliminate pre-registration for persons at least 16 years of age as well as eliminate same day voter registration.  The new Voter ID Bill, if passed into law, would affect the 2016 election.  www.carolinajournal.com/exclusives/display_exclusive.html?id=10358
