Donations down: Officials with the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign saying that donations are falling short this Christmas season. Traditionally, about 40% of all donations are raised the week and a half before Christmas. But donations are down more than $37,000 dollars across the Triad. Money raised during the Red Kettle campaign assists the Salvation Army in helping tens of thousands of needy families and individuals at Christmas and throughout the year. www.SalvationArmyCarolinas.org

With his condition improving, former President George H.W. Bush should be home for Christmas. Bush, Sr (who is 88 years old) was initially hospitalized on November 23 with bronchitis and still has a “lingering cough.” BTW: He is the oldest living former president and a World War II veteran. Fox News (Bush has a form of Parkinson’s disease that affects his legs and requires him to use a wheelchair.)
