DC Fair Director David Sparks retiring

A surprise retirement celebration was held for longtime Dixie Classic Fair Director David Sparks Thursday night.

The Set Up:  David Sparks received a call on his 2-way radio on Thursday evening from a security official asking him to come out to the Education Building to address ‘an issue’. When he arrived, Winston-Salem Fairgrounds staff members, vendors, partners as well as David’s family and friends gathered around to shake Sparks’ hand and wish him well.

BIO: David Sparks has been Director of the Dixie Classic Fair in Winston-Salem, NC, for the past 25 years (Assistant Director for 5 years prior).  Under his leadership, the Dixie Classic Fair has grown into the second largest agricultural fair in North Carolina.   Prior to the Dixie Classic Fair, Sparks worked as a producer and director for WXII-12.  Sparks holds degrees in communications and business from UNC-G and Wingate University.
