A new weight-loss pill that many doctors consider the most effective of a new generation of anti-obesity drugs received final FDA approval on Tuesday. “Chicken and Waffles” restaurant coming to the Triad. Dame’s World Famous Chicken and Waffles is opening a location in Greensboro’s Southside neighborhood at 301 Martin Luther King Jr.    The restaurant has been a popular destination in Durham for a couple of years. Dame’s offers seasoned and lightly battered fried chicken and European-style waffles, with flavored whipped butter such as strawberry and chocolate hazelnut. Town and Country Restaurant in King is set to re-open for lunch on Thursday.  A fire back in May 2010 caused extensive damage to the restaurant which has been a fixture in King for nearly 40 years.  www.journalnow.com

Food Lion customers in the Triad will see lower prices on thousands of items, faster checkouts and a wider selection of brands starting today.  Other changes include new shopping carts, cleaner aisles, brighter parking lots and fresher produce. into a no-fry zone – unless they are McDonald’s fries.
Seriously, McDonald’s will be the only restaurant allowed to sell French fries at the upcoming Summer Games in London, according to a sponsorship deal with Olympics organizers.
