A case before the US Supreme Court could change whether or not the federal government can dictate or interfere with church authority. Attorneys for Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redford, Michigan saying that the church has the right to claim ‘ministerial exception’ in employment issues . A former employee sued church after being fired. ‘Ministerial exception’ protects churches from most employment related lawsuits. Fortunate Sons, a group of 18 active-duty Marines, are hiking the entire 1,000-mile North Carolina Mountains-to-Sea Trail” (MST) in what they are calling “the journey for injured Marines.” The 42-day journey began on Sunday (October 2nd) at Clingman’s Dome in the Great Smokey Mountains and will end at Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks on Veterans Day weekend, November 13. A commemorative Civil War license plate is being issued to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the War between the states. The plate depicts three soldiers in silhouette standing around a cannon along with the words “Freedom,” ”Sacrifice” and “Memory.” The plates cost $30 dollars per year, but won’t be manufactured for drivers until at least 300 have been pre-ordered.
