Sunny and breezy today…High 43 with Wind Chills in the 30s.   Winter Weather Advisory for the Northern Mountains above 3000 feet for snow and low wind chills for Ashe, Watauga, and Grayson counties.

Extended New Year’s holiday for Monday… No banking or mail from the post office today.  In Winston-Salem: City and county offices – closed.  Most schools have one more day OFF while Normal garbage and recycling schedule this week in Forsyth County.

New name change for one area college for the New Year. Brandon Heath has picked up three Grammy nominations. For his CD “Leaving Eden”  and for his hit song “Your Love”.  Among other Christian artists receiving Grammy nominations this week include: Natalie Grant, Matt Maher, Leeland and Royal Tailor.  The GRAMMY Awards ceremony will be held in LA on Sunday, February 12th.

NFL:  The New Orleans Saints set a slew of NFL and club records yesterday in the 45-17 blowout of the Carolina Panthers.   Drew Brees and the Saints head into the playoffs on an eight-game winning streak. The Panthers finished the season at 6 – 10.

 Six College Bowl games on television today. ACC team Virginia Tech will play on Tuesday.
