Better ‘late’ than never? Nathan Tabor’s congressional bid got off to a rough start yesterday.  State officials said Tabor was too late when he dashed into a room at the N.C. Board of Elections office inRaleigh to file as a candidate for the 6th Congressional District seat now held by Republican Howard Coble. More details about Friday’s visitation and Saturday’s funeral to remember longtime FOX8 sports director Rich Brenner who passed away on Monday evening. He was 65 years old.  -Visitation will start 5pm Friday afternoon at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home at6000 High Point RoadinGreensboro. -The funeral will take place at Aycock Auditorium on the campus of UNC-G at 1pm Saturday afternoon.   Both events are open to the public. FYI: In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of three charities: the Carolina Field of Honor with the war memorial Foundation, Victory Junction and the UNC-G Rich Brenner Scholarship Fund.    

Davy Jones, made famous on the 1960s TV series “The Monkees”, passed away on Wednesday.  He was 66 years old.    Facts about Davy Jones: David Thomas Jones was born December 30, 1945, inManchester,England. The community of Chardon, Ohio is still trying to recover from Monday’s deadly school shooting that left three students dead.  Students are back in class today.
